ArcelorMittal’s Saldanha Works in South Africa is now equipped with a HIPAC controller for its roughing mill stand N1. The new system, supplied and installed by Danieli Automation, replaces an older control system from Siemens.

According to Danieli Automation, the HIPAC system was ‘seamlessly integrated into the existing automation system during normal production, without any dedicated shutdown time’.

Cobus Smit, automation project manager at the plant, said there had been no ‘significant issues’ following the switchover, which he described as a ‘significant achievement’.
